Will You Go to Heaven?

A question was raised today by my hairdresser: “Do you think everyone will go to heaven? Even the murderers?”

We are not our bodies, thoughts or actions. They are part of a temporary world and are not eternal. Our spirits are eternal and have never stopped being perfect. Our spirits have never lost their connection to their divine source. So, the question, “Will everyone go to heaven?” can be answered by simply saying, “We have never left.”

Channeled Writings – To fear or not to fear

Thunder roars and lightning strikes a long mean streak down savage skies. Judgment day has come and you stand in fear. Your life flashes before you… the grudges, petty grievances, betrayals and selfishness. You feel it’s imminent that you will be crushed beneath the judgment and fall to ground – unworthy to even look the judge in the eye. You lie in the mud and it grows quiet, except for your weeping. The silence persists, and when you look up, the skies have cleared and the sun is out. The judge has set a table and sits waiting for you to join him. He had not come to find you unworthy, but rather judge you perfect. You have always been perfect.

Uncontrolled Anger

There is a saying that if a man thinks he is in control, let him take care of a two-year-old.

Every time I think that I have reached a higher spiritual plateau, I lose my temper. Usually it is with my kids, who are on their own time schedule and are still young enough to know it all. And when I lose my temper, I feel my self esteem drop to its lowest notch. How could I possibly think that my son moving too slowly is more important than staying in a loving mode? When I lose my temper, I have identified with my separateness. I think his agenda is working against mine. My ego won’t stand for being ignored… that says I am not important. And the ego must always feel important.

I have no illusions that my ego isn’t huge and that my struggles with it may be greater than most. As soon as I have lose my temper, I realign myself and refuse to continue to identify with it. Instead, I ask for forgiveness from the offended person and forgive myself. And re-remember that the ego is not my true self.

So, I will now sit and think about the actions that lead to my lose of self control this morning, and see at what point I could have stopped it from escalating from a request to a demand shouted by a mad woman. And hope that next time, it triggers the knowledge that nothing is more important than a healthy relationship between me and my children… and certainly more important than whether the trash is taken out by a 9-year-old.

Shamanic Journeying Lessons 101

Last night, I hosted an informal gathering to talk to those interested in learning about shamanism. As I watched and heard their questions, I thought back to when I was at my first shamanic workshop. Back then, shamanism seemed so out of reach – a sacred and ancient knowledge that only those who lived in an indigenous tribe were privilege to. But those who have this knowledge have begun to share it with those outside the tribe. The need for spiritual growth now outweighs the need for cultural privacy.

What amazed me at my first shamanic workshop was that everyone learned how to shamanic journey. Granted some better than others, but everyone did very well. It made me realize that connecting to the spirit realm is a natural gift – no one is special because they practice shamanism. However, some people are definitely called to shamanism with an intensity that they don’t even understand – at least at first.

So, I hope that some of them will participate in workshops or classes to learn to shamanic journey. And that a few will even practice it for a lifetime. Once they experience the connection to nature, spirits and the divine, and especially when they start to heal, they will believe in miracles. And we are all entitled to miracles.

Channeled Writings – Come Home

This is a bit of a departure from my normal posts, but I asked what “they” had to say and this is what came out…

“I am that which you need. There is no other. You seek pleasure in this world where there is so little joy, and set apart yourself from your true self. Come home. How? Be present.”

Let us talk in riddles. You think you understand what the world is saying, yet you don’t even know why you are here. Who are you? Do you know? Have you remembered who you are and your ancient home that still waits for you? I think not. You have set up a world apart from yourself, thinking that it is grand. Yet, you are unhappy, lonely and even fearful because you know that it will not last. Your world, you created, will come to an end and you are afraid to go home and meet the parent who waits for you.

There is no reason to fear. Your parent waits patiently for his impudent child who has had lived out his mad idea and could not admit he made a mistake. And even when he saw that he was wrong, wanted still to stay separate in his own world. One day, your parent will meet you at the door, open his loving arms and say, “What a silly mistake! Welcome home.”

Can I Pray for You? Is Permission Needed to Heal?

When is the last time someone asked your permission to pray for you? Were you offended if they prayed without your consent? Most of us would appreciate the effort regardless of whether we had different religious beliefs (or none).

But, if you ask most shamans, they would say that it is unethical to perform a healing for someone without their permission? Why is that?

I have performed many healings for friends without their permission and sometimes without their knowledge. Why? Because I cared about them and wanted them to be healed. I wasn’t concerned about getting permission, because ultimately, the healing is not from me. I may request the healing, but I do not have the power to give it. The divine source provides the power to heal. It’s my role as a shaman to request the healing and relay the response. If the person does not want to be healed – they won’t be. If it’s not my place to ask, the spirit guides don’t grant the healing request or my power animal blocks me from asking for the healing. Sometimes during my shamanic journeys, the spirit guides will mention people that I should request a healing for and so I do. I do not have the people’s permission, since it is spontaneous, but will usually mention to them that a healing was performed.

Even so, I do prefer that the person know and give permission for a healing for several reasons. First, I want them to accept the healing or at least state that they want to get better – it won’t happen if they don’t want it. I would also like them to experience the miracle for themselves. If they suddenly are well, but don’t know the reason, they miss out on knowing that they received a miracle and that there is something greater than themselves that cares about them. I know that sometimes a person may feel that it is against their religion to accept my help (although I believe the shamanic healings come from the same divine source that they pray to), or the person may be someone I read about in the paper and don’t have access to. So, I request a healing on their behalf without their knowledge. And if the spirit guides grant it, I know that it was the right thing to do.

The Power of Power Animals

During a shamanic healing session for a client, a power animal spontaneously appeared. It was a herd of deer. At the time, it seemed interesting, but not overly important. However, the next morning, my client told me that her sister had sent her a inspirational video of a deer. It was an amazing “coincidence” that helped to confirm the healing for my client.

That evening, after returning home from a friend’s home, I called my sister to stay awake while driving. She lives out West so calling late works well for her. But after talking for about ten minutes, she suddenly became nausea and we ended the call. A few minutes later, while driving down the highway, a herd of deer stepped out in front of me. They were on all sides of me and there wasn’t time to stop. I remember thinking, “There is no way I won’t hit those deer.” I fully expected to hit not one, but several deer, and surrendered to the inevitable.

Suddenly, my body had a mind of its own. My foot hit the brakes, and as I passed a deer on my left, looking into his eyes and hoping that my rear-view mirror wouldn’t hit his antlers, my hand cranked the wheel sharply to the left to avoid hitting the deer on my right. Now in the median, I noticed that I was headed for a deer straight in front of me. My hand swerved the wheel back to the right, and I headed between the two deer. My vehicle had weaved between a herd of deer going 70 mph on the highway. I didn’t feel that it was me driving. It felt as if someone had taken control of my body and made all the right moves. Moves that would probably be impossible for even a professional race car driver. As I headed down the highway, unscathed, I thanked God for saving those deer lives. Another mile down the road, I thanked him for saving mine!

I saw the synchronicity of the deer power animal, not only for the client, but for myself. She felt the connection of the divine speaking to her and I felt the divine intervention which helped me to avoid hitting those deer. The deer that had come to me in my shamanic journey the day before.

I spoke to my sister the next day. I told her it was a good thing she had gotten nausea when she did or I would have had a cell phone in my hand when those deer appeared. And I really didn’t think I could I have avoided them with only one hand on the wheel. She said it was the weirdest thing, but shortly after getting off the phone, the nausea went away. We’re all connected!

Blessed (and safe) journeys!

The meaning of the deer as a power animal, according to the book Animal Spirit Guides by Steven D. Farmer, PhD:

You maintain a balance of the masculine traits of mastery, authority, and protection with the feminine characteristics of love, nourishment, and surrender, yet relate most closely with those associated with your gender.

You’re highly sensitive and intuitive and are often aware of the feelings of others before they are.

You can move with intention, awareness, and speed, and can change directions quickly while staying completely centered.

You’re most comfortable outdoors, particularly in the woods or forest, and must frequently spend time there to recharge and regenerate.

The Transference of Negative Energy

I recently picked up vertigo after performing a healing. I woke up in the middle of the night with the room spinning. Every time I turned over in my sleep, the spinning would happen again. When morning came, I was nauseous and dizzy. I waited several hours, and when I felt well enough to shamanic journey, I requested a healing for myself. The vertigo went away that day. I have not ever had vertigo before or since. My own healing worked, but it reminded me that I must protect myself before performing healings for others. Negative energy can be picked up in both remote or in-person healings.

This seems a strange concept for those that haven’t experienced picking up others illnesses or pain. But consider this… have you walked into a room after an argument and felt the heavy energy in the room? Or, felt someone staring at you from across the room? It is a similar experience of feeling or absorbing another person’s energy.

To protect myself, I visualize a bright yellow ball of energy above my head. I then draw the energy down through my body, slowly and deeper with each breath, until I am filled with this positive energy. I then visualize it surrounding me with a protective shield of love. If I am performing an in-person healing, I will also surround him or her with the positive energy. I have always been surprised that it works, and any time that I begin to doubt its effectiveness and don’t do it… well, I pay the price by once again absorbing the negative energy.

Dreaming to Connect to Our Soul

Ever wondered where you go at night when your mind sleeps? It has always been amazing to me that the need to sleep is so great that people will fall asleep while driving and flying planes. Why is this pull to sleep so great that is overcomes our need to survive?

Science can’t answer why we sleep, although they do know of the physical changes that occur during sleep. According to experts, doctors and scientists don’t fully understand the importance of sleep. They do know that sleep is a building process that restores the body’s energy that are used during the day. During sleep the body does most of its repair work, and muscle tissue is rebuilt and restored.

Science won’t figure out why we sleep because it involves our spirit. During sleep, our spirit is unhampered by our mind, and fully connects with the Spirit. This allows loving energy to flow in – healing our body, refreshing our mind and rejuvenating our soul.

The Two Sides of Eve – Ego vs. Spirit

Over and over for a week, I have heard comments from people stating that they don’t fit in this world – and never have. I knew they were echoing what I felt as well. Especially this last week, when I kept vacillating between peacefulness and flights of profound sadness and fearfulness. I realize now that it was a lesson to show me the rewards of being connected with the spirit versus being connected with the ego.

What is the ego?
The ego concept mystifies most of us. The ego convinces us to identify ourselves as being separate – a unique individual. The ego seems great when we are on top of the world, but when we are not, which is most of the time, it leaves us feeling lonely and fearful. I began to see the ego for what it is – an entity. A conscious thought that has manifested itself into a living being, who’s sole purpose is to convince us 24/7 that we are separate. It will use conniving methods, such as feelings of bravado to motivate us, and fear when we are nearing enlightenment to cloud our vision. You could compare the ego with the ‘Garden of Eden’ scene in the Bible where Satan convinces Adam and Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit – which represented knowledge. This knowledge was the thought of living separately from our source. A thought which created our ego.

How do we live on this earth without the torment of of the ego?
I believe that it is possible to listen to our spiritual self to know how to act and go about our day. Listening to the spirit is not a conscious act to ignore the ego, but rather the natural outcome. When listening to the spirit, we are connecting to our higher selves which automatically fills us with love and overrules the thoughts of the ego. There are only two basic emotions – love and fear (lack of love). The ego is ruled by fear and the spirit gives love.

Why does the ego want to control us?
The ego depends on our thought that created it to exist (we are creators, just as our Creator is). It will die without us, but believes that it can live without us. It’s mad and insane, but does not realize this. It longs to be free of us, thinking it knows best and can live without its creator. It is emulating our original thought that we could live apart from our creator. So the ego lives in fear of dying, and so badly wants to be free of us. But mostly, it fears that we will wake up and realize that the ego is not who we really are, and that we will remember our spiritual self – and worse yet, listen to our spirit instead of our ego.
